"Scripture Abuse"
1. John 3:16!
What feelings arise when you hear the terms spousal abuse or child abuse? Does it invoke within you a holy anger? Which one of us if we witnessed either taking place would stand by and do nothing to stop it? In the first message of his series “Scripture Abuse” Pastor Jeremy Lundmark calls on Christians to have the same feelings when they witness Scripture Abuse. As we examine the most well known text of our day, John 3:16, Pastor Lundmark wonders if this text has been a victim of Scripture Abuse.
2. Matthew 7:1-5
In this second part of the series “Scripture Abuse”, Pastor Lundmark examines the famous and often quoted Matthew 7:1 “Judge Not, Lest Ye Be Judged”. In this message we learn that so far from being a message from Christ “not to judge”, it actually is a call from our Lord for Christians to first judge themselves rightly, and then judge others in the same manner. We not only have a right to judge, and judge rightly, but we also have a responsibility to judge, and judge rightly.
3. Jeremiah 29:11
In the third message of the series “Scripture Abuse”, Pastor Lundmark deals with the famous text of Jeremiah 29:11. In this message we learn that God's promise of blessing is ONLY for the obedient who are suffering. The disobedient are simply getting what they deserve, and the message of hope does NOT extend to them.
4. Greek Problems
In this fourth message of his series “Scripture Abuse”, Pastor Lundmark discusses four areas where the Greek Language presents theological problems. We learn in this message that while the English text is sufficient for much of our study, when we get into battles over doctrine an understanding of the Greek is essential before dogmatic statements can be made. This sermon looks at how a knowledge of the Greek language is vitally important regarding issues such as the Deity of Christ, Deacons in the Church, Women in the Church, and the need of every unbeliever to be DRAGGED to Christ.
5. "Whole World"
Many times the Bible tells us that Jesus Christ died for “The Whole World”. In this message Pastor Lundmark, a Calvinist, explains that it is “Scripture Abuse” to translate the words “Whole World” as “Every Individual”. This sermon provides a proper defense of the third point of Calvinism: “Limited Atonement.
6. Put On
Many Christians do well with “Putting Off” th old self. However, few Christians ever press forward to the next step in the process when Paull calls us to “Put On” the new. In this final sermon of the “Scripture Abuse” series Pastor Lundmark addresses what he calls the worst kind of Scripture Abuse.
