"Far better to dare mighy things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank wih those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat. ~Theodore Roosevelt

Chapter One:

1. No Other Gospel

The Gospel of grace is a message that is not from men, but from God, and any other message that is taught is to be rejected along with its instructor. In this first message of the series "Galatians", Pastor Lundmark joins the Apostle Paul in the opening Verses when he declares "there is no other Gospel". Galatians 1:1-9

2. The Evidence of Salvation

Those who are truly servants of God, do not seek to please themselves or other men but God alone. In this second message on the book of Galatians, Pastor Lundmark lays bare the heart of the Apostle Paul, and then calls on us to lay bare our own hearts when he asks the question "Who are we trying to please in our lives?" Galatians 1:10

3. The Bible is God's Word: PROVED!

The Apostle Paul makes the bold claim that he has heard the Voice of God. In this message Pastor Jeremy answers one of the most difficult questions posed to Christians: "How Do you Know the Bible Is the Word of God?" In this message Jeremy presents a 4 point argument to prove that the Bible is unquestionably the Word of God based on historical evidence. (This argument can be found in the Published works of John H. Gerstner "Primitive Theology" and "Reasons for Faith.") -Galatians 1:11-12

4. The Commonality Between us

There are certain things that link every true Christian with every other true Christian. We have one faith, one hope, and one baptism. The Apostle Paul reveals in Galatians 1:13-16 at least three other things that true believers have in common in our salvation and calling. This is the 4th message in the series "Galatians". (Note: Sermon 3 was lost just after it's recording. A re-recording will be available at a later date). Galatians 1:13-16

5. From Enemy Saul to Apostle Paul

Our first introduction to the Apostle Paul is less then glorious. Saul of Tarsus stands by in approval as Steven is Murdered for his Christianity. Three Years later he shows up in Jerusalem claiming to be an Apostle! This morning we will learn that God's calling is above the approval of man, requires training, and results in God's Glorification. Galatians 1:17-24

Chapter Two:

1. Controversy in the Early Church

As the controversy between the Judaizers and the preachers of the Gospel flares, Paul returns to Jerusalem to get things straight. In Galatians 2:1-5 the Apostle Paul sets an example for us to follow when dealing with doctrinal controversy that arises in the church. We need to be wise & courteous, unyielding to false brothers, and preserve the gospel at any cost. Galatians 2:1-5

2. Remember the Poor

Those who seemed influential at Jerusalem added nothing to Paul or his gospel and received him and Barnabas with open arms. But there was one other thing they wanted from the Apostle... That he Remember the Poor. In this Sermon Pastor Jeremy explains that we should not show partiality in the church, that we should maintain unity in the gospel, and we Must Remember the Poor. Galatians 2:6-10

3. You Hypocrite!

As Paul confronts Peter's hypocrisy at Antioch Pastor Jeremy answers the objection raised by many unbelievers that the church is full of hypocrites. While that may be true Pastor Lundmark suggests that all men are hypocrites but at least in the church we have a Remedy for Hypocrisy. Pastor Lundmark explains how true Christians who practice repentance cease to be hypocrites and become perfectly consistent with there own worldview. Galatians 2:11-14

4. Works Won't Work

Paul explains to the Galatians, and to Peter, that "by works of the law no one will be justified." In this mesage Pastor Lundmark helps us to realize that no one ever was or ever will be justified by works of the law. Until we recognize our inability to wipe away our own sin, we will never recognize our need for Christ. Until the world recognizes that our message is a message of forgiveness and not of condemnation, laws, and rules, they will never recognize that Christ offers salvation by Grace, and not by works. No one will be justified by works, and all are justified by faith in Jesus Christ. Galatians 2:15-16

5. Free To Live

In Galatians 2:17-21 the Apostle Paul compares those who are under the law with those who are under grace. We learn that if we transgress the law, in Christ, Christ doesn't become less righteous. We also learn that if justification is through the law, then Christ died for no reason. In this sermon Pastor Jeremy shows us that when we have faith in Christ's righteousness, we are not bound to the condemnation of the Law but rather we are Free to Live! Galatians 2:17-21

Chapter Three:

1. O Foolish Galatians

After Paul is finished defending the truthfulness of his message and his own authority as an Apostle he turns his attention to the Galatians. In a fit of frustration Paul seems to yell through the pages "O Foolish Galatians Who has Bewitched You!" What was it that had Paul so bent out of shape? What had they embraced? In this message we observe the Foolishness of the Galatians, the Formula for Salvation, and the Example of the Faith of Abraham. Galatians 3:1-6

2. Father Abraham

There is a debate going on in the world of theology between two camps: Dispensational Theology and Reformed (or Covenant) Theology. In this message Pastor Lundmark shows how the Israel Church Distinction is incompatible with Galatians 3:7-9. We learn that it is those of faith who are children of Abraham, not the children of the flesh. Also, Pastor Lundmark shows that while the Dispensationalist believes there was not enough revelation for the Old Testament saints to believe in the Gospel, the New Testament clearly shows that the gospel was preached even to Abraham and that the people in Jesus day new the redeemer of Israel was coming! In this message Pastor Lundmark deals with what he calls "the most important debate of our day". Galatians 3:7-9

3. Blessing and Curse

In Galatians 3:9-14 Paul tells us that we are blessed along with Abraham the man of faith. We also learn that the Law and Faith are two diametrically opposed systems of salvation. This makes it utterly impossible for the saints of the O.T. to have been saved by the Law. Indeed if a Law had come that brought blessing, then Christ died for no purpose! In this sermon Pastor Jeremy brings to a close his explanation of why the Dispensational distinction between Israel and the Church is a problem when we read this section of Galatians. Galatians 3:9-14

4. Covenant Keepers

As with man made covenants, God's covenants can not be added to or taken away from orelse he proves himself to be untrustworthy, insincere, double-tongued and a liar. When God made his covenant with Abraham he could not turn around and annul that promise with future revelation like the Law of Moses! We too, like our God, need to learn to be covenant keepers!

5. Purpose of the Law

When Paul tells the people that salvation is by promise and not by the law, the inevitable question is raised "Why Then the Law"? Paul answers that question and another important questions "Is the Law then Contrary to the promises?" Paul shows us that the Law is not contrary to the promise but directly in line w/the Promise pointing to it and driving men either to the curse or trust in the promise by faith.

6. Children of God

The Apostle Paul ends chapter 3 of Galatians with an astonishing conclusion. He says that we are Children of God by faith. The implications of this statement in the New Testament are astounding. No longer does Paul quibble over whether we are associated w/Abraham, he explains that we are all Children of God by faith.

Chapter Four:

1. Purpose of the Law Part II

In Galatians 4 Paul brings to a conclusion his argument regarding our adoption as sons and solidifies his point that we are no longer slaves, but heirs. If we are heirs we have no reason to return to the weak and worthless elementary principles such as circumcision, or the observance of days, months, and years. As heirs we are trained by law but not condemned by the law.

2. Love One Another

Up to this point in Galatians Paul has been leveling argument after argument in favor of his Gospel of Grace, against the message of Works. At this point the Apostle Paul no longer appeals to the Galatians minds, but to their hearts as he reminds them of the love THEY had for him. Pauls confusion over the Galatians is based on their own testimony and works of love on his behalf. How could they who professed Christ and loved Paul so much return back to the Law?

3. A Divine Allegory

At the end of chapter 4 The Apostle Paul takes a different approach with the Galatians. He uses the allegorical method in interpreting the Genesis 21 account of Hagar and Sarah. We learn from this divine allegory that those who seek salvation in the flesh are children of Hagar and those who receive it by faith through promise are children of Sarah. The Galatians are commanded to cast out the slave woman and her child which implies the Law and the law-keepers.

Chapter Five:

1. A Radical Freedom

In Chapter 5 the Apostle Paul comes to the obvious conclusion of the arguments he has been presenting up to this point. That conclusion is that it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. In chapter 5 Paul reveals that we are to stand firm in our faith in the grace of Christ and not to put on again the yoke of slavery to works of the law. In fact he tells the Galatians that if they receive circumcision they are severed from Christ!

2. The Calling, The Leaven, and The Offense

In Chapter 5 the Apostle Paul declares our radical freedom and then raises frustration over the false teachers in Galatia. So angry is Paul that he wishes they would emasculate themselves. Along with this frustration is a reminder to the Galatians. A reminder that this persuasion of the Gospel is not from him who calls them. In this message pastor Lundmark examines three areas mention in this section. The Calling The Leaven and The Offense.

3. The Works of the Flesh

In this Sermon Pastor Jeremy reminds us that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves in the same way that the Samaritan showed compassion on his neighbor. Also we are not to use our freedom as an opportunity of the flesh. Paul tells us that if we walk by the Spirit we will not gratify our flesh. In closing we learn what the works of the flesh are and that those who practice such things will not enter the kingdom.

4. The Fruits of the Spirit

When we plant an apple seed, we expect that seed to bear fruit. If we plant a seed, and we do not know what kind of seed it is, we must wait until it bears fruit to see what kind of tree it is. The Bible tells us that when the Gospel lands on good soil it bears fruit. In Galatians Paul tells us what kind of fruit the Spirit bears in the life of the Christian. Are you bearing fruit.

Chapter Six:

1. Church Restoration

What are we supposed to do when we see our brother or sister in Christ in sin. The Apostle Paul answers that question in Galatians 6 when he tells his readers to bear one another's burdens. When we see people in sin, our responsibility is to restore them, not discipline them, or humiliate them. In this sermon we are called to love our brother enough to restore him to Christ in a gentle manner.

2. Test Yourself

The Apostle Paul encourages the Galatians to test their work so that their boasting will be in themselves. As we enter into the new year and into a time of communion with our lord, it is an excellent time to put ourselves to the test. But the heart his more deceitful than all else. How can we accurately judge ourselves before God and make a plan for improvement.

3. Sowing and Reaping

In Galatians 6 the Apostle began by talking about the brother caught in transgression. But what about the one who doesn't get caught. We learn in this message that God is not mocked and that whatever one sows that is what he will reap. We are encouraged to continue doing good because a time is coming when we who sow to the Spirit will reap eternal life.

4. Heresy of the Heart

In the closing verses of Galatians we are directed to the importance of this book by Paul's large hand writing. We also see that the real reason why these Jews are seeking circumcision is so that they do not have to suffer persecution for being a Christian. The real problem in Galatia is a Heresy of the Heart. So how do you hide your Christianity.

5. What Really Matters

In the closing verses of Galatians the Apostle Paul explains that nothing outward matters. Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision. Then what does matter. The Apostle Paul says the only thing that matters is a new creation. In this message we will examine what it means to be a child of Abraham and what it is that really matters in regard to our salvation.
