"The Fury of God"
1. The Fury of God
In this introductory message Pastor Lundmark begins a study of a very frightening characteristic of God, his Fury. Is God an all loving God. What does the Bible say. Is God more compassionate in the New Testament than in the Old. Is Jesus the Son more compassionate and gracious than God the Father. These and other questions regarding God's anger will be discussed as we begin a study through the Bible of the Fury of God.
2. Get Out of My Garden
In the book of Genesis we see the first instance of God's fury towards mankind when he banishes Adam and Eve from the Garden, and places upon them the curse of death. In this message we will see how Adam and Eve ignored the Word of God, the Goodness of God, the Fury of God, and the intelligence of God. We will also examine the question of why it is we are still alive, and why God didn't destroy the human race.
3. Supernatural Disaster
In this message we examine one of the most horrific demonstrations of God's wrath, the story of the flood. While we teach our children of the rainbow and the salvation of Noah, rarely do we explain to them that the death of every person on the face of the planet was CAUSED by God.
4. What Would Jesus Bomb?
An anti-war bumper sticker asks the question “What would Jesus bomb?” In Genesis chapter 19 we learn the answer to that bumper sticker's question: A city full of homosexuals. In this message we'll not only see God's anger towards the sin of homosexuality but also against the sin of disobedience. How should the Christian community respond to the ever growing homosexual movement? Should we hate them, accept them for who they are, or is there another answer?
5. Plagues and Death in Egypt
In the book of Exodus God reveals the story of Moses and the great Exodus of the Jewish people from the slavery of Pharaoh. This story is full of plagues that God uses against Pharaoh and the people of Egypt to show that the LORD is God. In this message God shows his fury against a disobedient leader and his followers. However, how can God be angry when “God hardened Pharaoh's heart?”
6. The Death of Uzzah
In Israel there was no greater vessel than the Ark of the Covenant. In 2 Samuel 6 a man named Uzzah reaches out his hand to catch the falling Ark, and is killed on the spot. In this message we will look at God's Fury against so called "little" sins, and the importance of regular individual confession of sin.
7. The Coup De Ta of Korah
In the book of Numbers the Israelites, following Moses, are on their way to the promised land of Canaan. In this story Korah and some 250 chief priests challenge the authority and leadership of Moses and Aaron. In the end God opens up the ground and swallows up Korah and his followers. In this message we'll learn the importance of submitting to God's leaders in: The Church, The Government, and the Family.
8. Lamentations of Jeremiah
In the book of Lamentations we read the prophet Jeremiah's personal account of the siege and subsequent destruction of Jerusalem. Jeremiah attributes all the destruction, pain, suffering and death to God. In this message we will see the horrific display of God's holy wrath upon a people who had turned away from Him.
9. The Anger of Jesus
Our culture's love for tolerance and disdain for open confrontation has lead to a deceiving portrait of Christ that paints him as an all loving, all gracious, and all compassionate individual. The Bible paints a different picture of a Christ who loved the poor in spirit, but hated the self-righteous, and unrepentant. In this message we see a Jesus who despised tolerance and had a passion for open confrontation of sin.
